This particular piece is actually based on true to life events— except for all the parts that would be possibly incriminating. We have no mysterious stains on our carpet. I know precisely where all of them came from. As for the comic, well this seems to be our first. At least that’s what the buttons tell me. Officially, this comic got its start in the fall of 2005, and at that point the characters themselves were relatively new. They really only started appearing on my note margins a month before then became what you see above. But I would say that personalities have been with me for some time now. I’ve probably known Shawn for a lot longer than I’d care to admit. As for Nathan, well, whenever I obsess over my video game collection or what everyone thinks of me, he’s right there. Oh hell, Daniel is SO not particular about the stains on the carpet. He doesn’t know where they come from! I have asked, just like Melissa does in this strip, where they came from and he often replies “What stain?” or “The other Daniel.” He’s just no good at lying. This is the first comic that I ever edited for Never You Mind as well. Oh, and a small note about the title: we brainstormed late one day for many minutes trying to come up with an appropriate one, and this struck us both as amusing. Ah, I remember when I decided to edit his handwriting, which is very painstaking by the way. And since Daniel didn’t quite make it clear, the guy with glasses is Nathan, the other guy is Shawn, and their female roommate is Melissa. They share an apartment and go to college. It’s great fun.
